Community perceptions of the application of organic fertilizer technology in milkfish cultivation businesses in Towua Village, Wondulako District, Kolaka Regency

Abstract

This research aims to determine the perception of cultivators in using organic fertilizer, the government's perception of the development of organic milkfish business, and the perception of milkfish consumers regarding organic milkfish production in Towua Village, Wundulako District, Kolaka Regency from September to October 2021. The research sample was 15 cultivators organic milkfish, 5 government people consisting of the village head, village secretary, hamlet 1 chairman, village general treasurer, and religious leaders, and 20 organic milkfish consumers consisting of men and women who work as artisans, traders, farmers, and housewife. The variable observed was the organic milkfish cultivation business. The questions asked to cultivators were 15 points, divided into 5 points on the aspect of ease in obtaining organic fertilizer material, 5 points on the aspect of ease in the process of making organic fertilizer, and 5 points on the aspect of ease of application of fertilizer in ponds, questions submitted to the government with 5 points in the aspect of government support, and questions asked to consumers with 5 points in the aspect of purchasing at high and low prices. The data analysis used is perception analysis. The results of the research show that (1) the perception of farmers in using organic fertilizer in Towua Village, Wundulako District, Kolaka Regency regarding the aspect of ease in obtaining organic fertilizer is at a high level of perception, the aspect of ease in the process of making organic fertilizer is at a high level of perception, and the aspect of ease of application of organic fertilizer in ponds is at a moderate perception level. (2) The government's perception of the development of organic milkfish business in Towua Village, Wundulako District, Kolaka Regency regarding the aspect of government support is at a high level of perception. (3) The perception of milkfish consumers regarding organic milkfish production in Towua Village, Wundulako District, Kolaka Regency in the aspect of purchasing at high and low prices is at a medium perception level.
